At Burneston Dental we offer a number of treatments that can help to improve the appearance of your skin. The end result is an improved, fresher and more rested looking appearance that leaves you feeling happy and confident in yourself once again.
Christian Metzner BDS (Rand) DRDP (UCL Eastman) and his team offer a number of skin treatments including:
Wrinkles can be successfully treated with a protein called Botulinum Toxin (of which Botox® is a trade name). Botox® is the most effective and popular skin treatment for subtly tackling the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles. It also prevents new lines forming by relaxing the facial muscles and reducing excessive facial movements. In cosmetic use, the amount of toxin used is small and safe and it works by weakening the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles (lines that appear when you animate your face). Static wrinkles are lines that appear when you rest your muscles and these do not usually improve with Botulinum Toxin. These can however be effectively treated with Dermal Fillers. At Burneston Dental we believe in perfecting the most natural looking results. We do not advocate the infamous ‘frozen’ face often associated with anti-wrinkle injections. We would like you to look natural, fresher and more rested. The 3 areas that we can treat for you include forehead lines, frown lines and crows feet (eye wrinkles).
Dermal fillers vary in their composition but the most commonly used material is Hyaluronic Acid. This is a naturally occurring substance within the body that diminishes with age and is injected under the skin to instantly restore volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. Prior to treatment, your face will be cleansed with an antiseptic. If patients wish, a local anaesthetic cream can also be applied to the treatment area to minimise any discomfort that may be felt. Using a fine needle, we will then inject the dermal filler into pre-selected treatment areas.Once injected, the dermal fillers will work by mimicking the depleted supply of Hyaluronic Acid in your body. Results will be immediately visible and the anti-ageing benefits are long lasting, but not permanent. Dermal filler products are biodegradable, which means that they will gradually be metabolised by your body. Future treatments will be necessary to maintain results of Dermal Fillers. Here at Burneston Dental, we use Juvéderm® ULTRA for our dermal filler treatments as it has undergone extensive clinical tests and is also FDA approved. Juvéderm® ULTRA is the first filler of its kind to contain an anaesthetic to make treatment more comfortable. With the help of dermal fillers, moderate lines occurring in the mouth to chin area and the nose to lip corners can be softened. Lips can be defined or enhanced, subtly and naturally and results normally last from 6 – 12 months.
Acne scars, burn scars, hyper pigmentation and aged skin can all have devastating consequences on a person’s self esteem. Rather than suffer from low confidence however, a Dermaroller could be just the solution. A Dermaroller is a medical roller with hundreds of micro-skin needles arranged around it. Before the treatment begins, a topical anaesthetic is applied to numb the skin – making the procedure comfortable. As the Dermaroller is passed across the skin it causes small micro punctures in the skin surface that stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely. The end results create smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin as well as a smile that you won’t be able to wipe off your face.
We actively encourage people to seek independent medical advice before committing themselves to treatment. For more information about any of the skin treatments that we offer here at Burneston, please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information and we will be more than happy to help.
